A new biotech company, Noachis Terra, announced on April 20th that it will focus its efforts to develop a vaccine for the novel coronavirus in Gainesville, FL. Noachis Terra’s main office will be located in UF Innovate | The Hub, a business incubator between downtown and UF campus.

Interim President Gary Ascani hopes that this vaccine will not only prevent the spread of COVID-19, but that it will also protect against other strains of coronavirus. Noachis Terra expects to begin clinical trials within 18 months, a shorter timeline than most vaccines which often take years.
